Journal & Magazine

Long-form, from the community.

The journal carries study and scholarship. The magazine carries features, profiles and campus stories. Both are written by students, teachers and practitioners.

Journal & Magazine — long-form writing, two shelves under one roof

Journal & Magazine is the umbrella page for Homoeopaths.org’s long-form writing — two shelves under one roof, each carrying a different kind of piece.

The journal shelf carries study and scholarship: the kind of writing that goes deeper into a subject than a single blog post would, written by students, teachers and practitioners rather than commissioned from outside the community. The magazine shelf carries features, profiles and campus stories — the platform’s own framing for this shelf is direct about what it isn’t: never a promotion for a clinic, whoever the feature happens to be about. Both shelves sit at their own address once a piece is tagged for them, and both are reachable from this one umbrella page.

Nothing here is written by a newsroom on the community’s behalf. A journal article or a magazine feature comes from someone inside the network — a student, a teacher, a practitioner — the same way every other piece on this platform does, checked against the same rules before it’s published: one category, an honest excerpt, a real byline, and none of the claims the brand’s own voice rules out.

If you have something worth publishing in either shelf, Publish With Us is the door — send in study writing for the journal, or a feature, profile or campus story for the magazine, and it’s read the way every submission on this platform is read before anything goes out under your name.

The difference between this page and Blog is deliberate: Blog is the platform’s everything-shelf, home to every kind of piece regardless of form, while Journal & Magazine is only for pieces written specifically as long-form journal or magazine writing, tagged that way on purpose, not simply the longest posts to hand. A student writing an ordinary study guide belongs on Blog or in a Learn room; a student writing a proper scholarly piece for the journal belongs here.

Both shelves are quiet right now, and this page says so rather than pretending otherwise. A dark shelf here means no journal piece or magazine feature has been published yet — not that the room doesn’t exist or won’t be filled. The moment a first piece lands in either shelf, it lights up: indexed properly, listed here, and reachable in search within the platform’s usual window.

Journal

Journal — study and scholarship, from the community

This is the header for the Journal shelf, one half of the Journal & Magazine page — the half that carries study and scholarship rather than features or stories.

What belongs here is reviews, study notes and long-form writing that takes a subject seriously enough to name its sources. A journal piece is the kind of writing that could be checked against the book, the paper, or the edition it draws from — not a summary offered on trust, but one a reader could verify for themselves if they wanted to. That’s what separates it from the Magazine shelf next door, which carries features, profiles and campus stories instead.

This shelf is written by students, teachers and practitioners across the community, not by a fixed editorial staff — which is also why it currently holds nothing: the first journal pieces are in preparation, and they’ll appear here, newest first, as they’re published. If you have study notes, a review, or a piece of scholarship worth sharing with the wider community, sending it in is straightforward.

A journal piece worth publishing usually has a shape you can recognise before you even reach the sources at the bottom: it takes one subject, or one part of one subject, and goes deeper into it than a general explainer would — the kind of writing a First Professional student or a working practitioner would actually want to sit down and read carefully, rather than skim. It doesn’t need to be exhaustive to belong here, but it does need to be honest about what it’s drawing from, the same standard the platform holds for a practitioner’s registration or a college’s affiliation.

The Magazine shelf sits right alongside this one if you’re looking for the community’s more narrative writing instead, and Publish With Us covers exactly how to send either kind of piece in.

Because the journal draws from the same community it serves rather than a paid editorial staff, its strength will grow the way the rest of this platform grows — one contribution at a time, from students partway through a subject, practitioners years past it, and teachers who’ve taught it long enough to know where it’s usually misunderstood. A subject examined from more than one of those vantage points, over time, is worth more to a reader than any single polished overview could be, and that’s the shape this shelf is built to hold.

Magazine

Magazine — features and campus stories, from the community

This is the header for the Magazine shelf — the more narrative half of Journal & Magazine, and it also stands as its own page. What belongs here is features, profiles and campus stories from across the community: the kind of writing that tells you what a place or a person is like, rather than proving a claim with sources the way a journal piece does.

There’s one hard line on this shelf, and it holds regardless of who’s writing: a piece about a practitioner is a story, not an advertisement. If it could run as a clinic’s promotion with the names swapped in, it doesn’t run here. A profile can describe what someone does and how they came to do it; it can’t be a case for choosing them, and it will never carry a testimonial about anyone’s treatment.

Within that line, the shelf is open — a college event, a student’s account of their own year, a practitioner’s path into the field, a story about the community rather than a claim on its behalf. The first magazine features are in preparation now and will appear here, newest first, as they’re published.

The distinction from the Journal shelf is worth being precise about, because the two are easy to blur. A journal piece earns its place by being checkable — sources named, a subject examined the way a review or a study note would examine it. A magazine piece earns its place by being true to what actually happened — a real event, a real person’s real account of their own path, told honestly rather than proven with citations. Neither is a lesser form of the other; they’re simply doing different jobs on the same page.

If you have a story like this to send in, or you’d rather read the community’s more source-driven scholarship, the Journal shelf and the submissions page are both nearby.

What keeps this shelf from drifting into promotion, even with a lighter register than the Journal, is that the same review applies to every submission before it runs: is this a story about someone, or is it a case being made for choosing them. A profile that happens to make a practitioner look capable because the writing is honest is fine; a profile written specifically to make a practitioner look capable is not, whatever tone it’s written in.
