How the directory helps a student find seniors

First year can feel lonely in a strange way. You are surrounded by people, but the ones who know how things work are a year or three ahead of you. Seniors. They know which chapters take longest, how practicals run, and what the internship is like. The hard part is knowing who they are.

This piece explains how Homoeopaths.org can help you see who else from your college is here, including seniors. It also says plainly what the platform does not do yet. We would rather you know the limits than be surprised by them.

It starts with your college and batch

When you register as a student, you give us your college, your batch year, your current year of study and your enrollment number. That is what connects your account to a real place on the platform.

Our network covers twelve homoeopathic medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh: nine government and three private. Each has its own page, which you can reach from the Institutions page. At the foot of every college page is the same invitation: register, find your batch, and study in the order your programme runs.

Our team reviews student accounts, and checks enrollment.

Two lists on your dashboard

Once you are signed in, your student dashboard has two sections that together work like a directory.

My Batch shows the students who share your batch year. It gives each person’s name, photo and college. So it can include students from other colleges in the network who are at the same stage as you.

My College shows your college’s details and a list of students from your college on the platform. This is the one that helps you find seniors.

How to find seniors

In My College, above the list of students, there is a small filter. By default it shows “All Years”. You can change it to Year 1, Year 2, Year 3 or Year 4.

If you are in first year, pick Year 2, 3 or 4. The list now shows only students from your college in that year. Those are your seniors.

Each card shows the student’s name, photo and year. On My Batch, some cards also carry a small “Enrollment verified” badge. It means that student’s enrollment has been checked by our team.

What the directory does not do

Please read this part. It saves disappointment.

  • It is not a chat. There is no messaging inside the directory. It tells you who is here. It does not open a conversation.
  • It only shows people who have joined. If a senior has not registered, they will not appear. An empty year does not mean nobody is there. It means nobody from that year has joined yet.
  • It does not show phone numbers or email addresses. Contact details are not part of these lists.

So think of the directory as a way to learn names and faces. The actual hello still happens the old way: in the corridor, the library, the canteen or the practical hall. Knowing a name first makes that hello much easier.

A few good manners

Seniors are students too, with their own exams and pressures. A little care goes a long way.

  • Introduce yourself with your name, batch and college.
  • Ask one clear question, not ten at once.
  • Respect a “not now”. Everyone is busy at some point in the year.
  • Say thank you, and later, be the senior who helps a junior.

What you control

Our Privacy Policy says that other users in your college or batch community may see the profile information you provide. That is part of how the platform works. You decide what goes into your profile, including your photo. Keep it to what you are happy for classmates and seniors to see.

Other ways to meet people here

The directory is one door. There are others. Webinars & Workshops lists live sessions for students and practitioners, and a session is a natural place to meet people from other years. The Homoeopathic Members Meet, an in-person gathering of members, has its own page in the Community section and will be announced there once it is scheduled. And Student Corner collects guides for BHMS students, from first-year subjects to the internship year.
